The island Ischia is located on the
Gulf of Naples (Golfo di Napoli) in the
region Campania in Italy.
The island has an area about 46.3 km²
and approximately 70000 inhabitants
and consists of 6 municipalities,
Ischia (districts Porto and Ponte),
Casamicciola, Forio, Barano, Lacco Ameno
and Serrara Fontana.
All these 6 communities belong to the province
of Naples (Napoli).

Ischia can be reached from the
Italian mainland Naples or
Pozzuoli by ferry which takes about
80 minutes or by boat, catamaran and
hydrofoil which takes 45 minutes,
but also from the nearby island
of Procida can be taken ferries to
reach Ischia.
The crossing with the Ferry costs
around 8 to 10 euros, with the
catamaran it costs 12 to 15 euros
per person.

Ischia is a popular holiday destination a
has a large number of beautiful landscapes
and coastlines as you can see on the photo.
In the time of a year there will visit
more then 5 million tourists this
beautiful island in the Thyrrhenian Sea
in the Gulf of Naples (Golfo di Napoli).
The hightest Mountain
of the island is called the Mountain
Monte Epomeo with 787 meters,
who will climb up to the top of
the mountain will be rewarded with a
fantastic unique view.
You can view from this point up to
Capri, Naples (Napoli), Ponza or
Gaeta.
Who is itself too lazy to climp up
Monte Epomeo can rent a mule to ascent
the mountain like it was
usual in earlier times.

Among the sights and
attractions of Ischia is the
Castello Aragonese (Castle) which
is situated on a small island in the near
of Ischia and which can be reached by the
brigde Ponte Aragonese.
The present castle was built around 1438
on its remains of a previously built
fortifications.
It is told that already Gelon the tyrant
of Syracuse (Siracusa) around 474 BC built
the first fort there.

In opposite of the Castello Aragonese
on the island Ischia is located
the Spiaggia di Cartaromana (Beach),
its a beach section where the
sea volcanism is still active and
which provides hot springs spa.
At this place you can also in winter
geht a hot bath. Ischia
In the east of the city Ischia
is situated the Beach Spiaggia dei Pescatori,
a sandy beach with a view on a small Island
of the Castle Castello Aragonese.
As Accommodation opportunities there
will be provided hotels, holiday villas,
apartments, youth hostels and campsites.
There are hotels from 2 stars to 5 stars,
with most hotels at least with 3 stars.
A 4 to 5 star hotel will cost around
100 to 200 euros per person and per night.
Three-star hotels can have a price from
50 euros to 90 euros per night.
