Ponza is one of the Pontine islands
in the province of Latina of the region Lazio
in Italy. The island has an area of
7.5 sq. km and about 3000 inhabitants.
Together with Zannone, Palmarola and Gavi this
island group form a municipality of the province
of Latina.
Next to Ponza therer are other small towns on this island,
Guardini, Giancos, I Conti e Santa Maria and in the northern
part of the island Campo Inglese and Le Forma.

Ponza is a popular holiday
destination for diving for who is
interested in exploring the dive spots
in the archipelago.
|
|
There are several diving schools, scuba diving offers and
boat rental offers for a easier dip in the waters of the
island group. Not only divers come to the island but also
the normal tourist, who have nothing to do with diving. Those
tourists prefer to stay at the Beach Spiaggia Chiaia Luna, that's
a beach in the southeast of the island or they stay in one of the
bars or night cafes of which there are few.

On Ponza, there are various
accommodation options from hotels,
apartments or bed and breakfast up
to the cottage and country houses. From 1 star Hotel Silvia
to 4 Star Hotel Santa Domitilla is
everything offered what the wallet allows.
The island can be reached by ferry from Naples
(Napoli), Terracina, Formia and Anzio.
The ferry companies which navigate to the pontine islands are
Vetor, Caremar and Snap.

The ferry from Formia to Ponza needs about 70 minutes with
the Vector ferry company and costs 21 euros per trip and
per person, 10 euros for childrens under 12 years and
3 euros for pets such as dogs or cats.
It should be noted that there are additional baggage rates for
tourists who want's to stay on Ponza for vacation.
Bags up to 10 kg cost € 2.5 kg, 20 kg - 7.5 €, 30 kg - 12.5 €, up to 50 kg - 25 €.
